Privacy policy

Sannounce doesn’t collect or share any personal data. There’s no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
The microphone
Sannounce only uses the microphone while you record an announcement. The recording goes over your local network to the Sonos speakers you picked, which fetch it straight from your iPhone or iPad. It is never sent to me or to any other server.
Your local network
Sannounce uses your local network to find your Sonos speakers and play announcements on them. To find older speakers that don’t announce themselves, it also checks whether other devices on your network answer on the port Sonos speakers use. It only communicates with devices on your own network.
Speech transcription
To suggest a name when you save an announcement, Sannounce transcribes it with Apple’s speech recognition on your device. The audio and the text stay on the device. The first time you use a language, iOS may download its speech model from Apple.
What’s stored
Saved announcements and your settings are stored only on your device, and deleting the app deletes them. Other recordings are temporary and are replaced by the next one.
Your Sonos speakers
Sannounce doesn’t send anything to Sonos. What the speakers do on their own is covered by Sonos’s privacy statement.
Children
Sannounce collects no data from anyone, children included.
This website
This website doesn’t use cookies or analytics and loads nothing from other companies. Your choice of language and appearance is remembered in your browser only. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the pages.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new date.
